Framework Example Structure

Below is the structure for STAR Framework. Your example should follow this structure while applying it to a specific use case.

Situation:

Describe the current state and background circumstances

Task:

Define the specific challenge or objective to address

Action:

Specify the approach or steps the AI should take

Result:

Define the desired outcome and format

Example Prompt:

Situation: Our SaaS startup has 2,000 active users and a 6% monthly churn rate, mostly among users who signed up through paid ads rather than organic search. Our three-person customer success team is overwhelmed, and exit surveys point to onboarding confusion as the primary driver. Task: Identify the top three reasons for churn and propose retention strategies for each that our small team can realistically execute. Action: Analyze common churn patterns in early-stage SaaS companies, cross-reference with our acquisition channel data, and prioritize by expected impact. Consider low-cost, high-leverage tactics that do not require engineering resources. Result: Deliver a numbered list of churn drivers with one retention strategy per driver, estimated cost to implement, projected churn reduction percentage, and a 30-day quick-start action for each.
